THE INTERSECTION OF ART & STORIES AT THE UA COLLEGE OF MEDICINE-PHOENIX
2021 PHOENIX BIOMEDICAL CAMPUS ANATOMY DONOR APPRECIATION EXHIBIT
Willed body donors help bring a vital part of medical education to students in the medical field. Their sacrifice allows future medical professionals to understand the canvas on which they will work for years to come. It is the tradition of anatomy courses at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus to hold an annual willed body donor appreciation ceremony to demonstrate gratitude to those willing to donate their bodies to medical education. While anatomy for the 2020-21 academic year was held in a virtual setting, we felt it was necessary to attempt to capture this appreciation while also using the situation as a lens into medical education in a pandemic. In collaboration with U of A Anatomy Lab manager Darla Current, we reached out to students asking for artistic depictions of their virtual anatomy experience.
